How In-Browser XML Sitemap Validation Works
XML Sitemap Syntax Validator runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript. There is no sign-up, and whatever you type or open here is processed on your device instead of being sent to a server.
Validate XML Sitemaps Locally Without Exposing Private URLs
Paste XML sitemap code or sitemap index files to verify syntax and structure before submitting to Google Search Console. Because validation runs 100% on-device in browser memory, unreleased staging URLs, private client portals, and upcoming products remain completely confidential. It checks the file only: it does not visit your URLs to see whether they load, redirect or are blocked, and it does not open the sitemaps listed in a sitemap index.
Strict ISO 8601 Date and Namespace Verification
The validator checks the sitemap XML namespace declaration, validates that lastmod dates follow real calendar rules (flagging impossible dates like February 30), and never accepts an image address (<image:loc>) in place of a page's own <loc>. It checks the main sitemaps.org rules, not the full XML schema: unknown tags and image, video or news extension tags are not checked.
Checks for the 50,000 URL Sitemap Limit
The validator flags a sitemap with more than 50,000 entries; it does not measure file size, so check yourself that each file stays under 50 megabytes uncompressed. Attach an uncompressed .xml file; a compressed sitemap.xml.gz must be unzipped first.
Why processing in your browser matters
Many online tools upload your files or text to a server to process them. This one does the work on your computer or phone, so your data is not sent to us or stored anywhere else. That lowers the risk when you work with confidential material, although you should still follow your organisation's own rules. Read how this works in our Privacy Policy.
- No uploads: files are opened and saved on your device, so there is no upload or download wait.
- No account: nothing to sign up for or install.
- Free to use: no subscriptions or paywalls.
