How Client-Side Fair Rent Splitting Works

Fair Rent Split & Roommate Calculator runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript. There is no sign-up, and whatever you type or open here is processed on your device instead of being sent to a server.

Divide Apartment Rent Fairly by Room Size, Income or Private Bathroom

Calculate fair rent portions for roommates by room size, by income or equally, with an optional premium for each private bathroom. Calculations run 100% on-device in browser memory, keeping your lease details and personal housing budgets completely private.

Exact-Total Rounding, Including Whole-Rupee PKR

Shares are rounded to whole rupees for PKR and to the cent for USD, GBP, EUR, INR, AED, CAD and AUD, and leftover units are handed out so the payments add up to the total rent exactly.

Private Bathroom Premium

Set one fixed premium and tick each roommate with a private bathroom; for a walk-in closet, parking spot or balcony, agree an amount and add it to that person's share yourself.

Worked Example: Three Roommates, Three Ways to Split

Take $3,000 rent and rooms of 200, 150 and 150 sq ft, where Alex's room has a private bathroom worth a $150 premium. Split equally with no premium, everyone pays $1,000. Split by room size, the premium comes off first, the remaining $2,850 is shared 40/30/30 ($1,140, $855 and $855), and Alex then adds the $150: Alex pays $1,290, and Sam and Jo pay $855 each. Split by income instead, with monthly incomes of $6,000, $4,000 and $2,000 and no premium, the shares are $1,500, $1,000 and $500, so everyone pays 25% of what they earn. In every case the shares add up to exactly $3,000.

Why processing in your browser matters

Many online tools upload your files or text to a server to process them. This one does the work on your computer or phone, so your data is not sent to us or stored anywhere else. That lowers the risk when you work with confidential material, although you should still follow your organisation's own rules. Read how this works in our Privacy Policy.

  • No uploads: files are opened and saved on your device, so there is no upload or download wait.
  • No account: nothing to sign up for or install.
  • Free to use: no subscriptions or paywalls.
