How In-Browser UTM Link Building Works
UTM Campaign Link Builder runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript. There is no sign-up, and whatever you type or open here is processed on your device instead of being sent to a server.
Generate Accurate Campaign Tracking URLs On-Device
Add standard UTM parameters (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content) to destination URLs for Google Analytics and ad platforms. All concatenation and formatting execute 100% on-device in browser memory, ensuring your confidential marketing campaign names and strategy parameters are never logged on external servers.
Clean URL Encoding and Query Parameter Safety
The builder keeps any query string already in your destination link, joins the UTM parameters with ampersands and URL-encodes their values, so a space becomes + and & becomes %26. Boolean flag parameters without values (e.g. &flag) are preserved without unwanted trailing equal signs. If your link already contains a utm_ parameter, it is replaced by the value you type rather than added a second time.
Standardized UTM Naming Best Practices
Keep all UTM tags consistently lowercase and use hyphens instead of spaces. Google Analytics treats 'Email' and 'email' as separate traffic sources, so lowercase standardization prevents fragmented attribution data.
The Five UTM Parameters, with Examples
Fill in only the boxes you need: empty ones are left out of the link. If the address already carries a utm_ parameter, this UTM tool replaces it instead of adding a second copy, and the page's other query parameters stay exactly as you typed them. A finished link looks like https://example.com/shoes?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=spring-sale.
| Parameter | What it records | Example |
|---|---|---|
| utm_source | Where the visit came from | newsletter, google, facebook |
| utm_medium | The type of channel | email, cpc, social |
| utm_campaign | The campaign or promotion | spring-sale |
| utm_term | The paid search keyword (optional) | running-shoes |
| utm_content | Which link or ad version was clicked (optional) | header-button |
Why processing in your browser matters
Many online tools upload your files or text to a server to process them. This one does the work on your computer or phone, so your data is not sent to us or stored anywhere else. That lowers the risk when you work with confidential material, although you should still follow your organisation's own rules. Read how this works in our Privacy Policy.
- No uploads: files are opened and saved on your device, so there is no upload or download wait.
- No account: nothing to sign up for or install.
- Free to use: no subscriptions or paywalls.
